Auntie Maureen

Hello Stephen,

Thank you so very much for the clear and concise review of my audio description tour at Tate Britain earlier this year. I think all your observations are spot on.

It would have a delight to talk further on the conceptual notions around the term femme fatale in art (including film noir). However, Tate Britain very specifically invited me, for the first time, to give an audio description tour of the 3 paintings hence we spent so much time attempting to describe what was painted rather than talk about the subject in relation to the theme of the femme fatale. Tying together the overall theme, giving a related description of the female subject per painting, placing this in historical context as well as describing in detail what was depicted was indeed too much information for the 1.5 hours we had to share all this. You are right.

However, I am very grateful for the opportunity to meet you and the other guests in the group as you have given me much food for thought about how to bring together ideas and concepts in a user-friendly manner as well as format. Your review above is just such a gift.

So once again thank you for taking the time to describe your experience so eloquently.

Perhaps one day our paths will cross again and I will be able to speak with you in person more about the Femme Fatale.

Respectfully yours,

Auntie Maureen
