27 February 2009
Sally Booth, a well-known visually impaired visual artist, beat competition from artists across the UK to be announced as the recipient of the Adam Reynolds Memorial Bursary 2009.
The artist received £5k and was artist in residence at the Bluecoat, Liverpool, in February 2009. The artist worked closely with the Bluecoat and Tate Liverpool during the residency.
The annual bursary is offered to support a disabled artist working in the visual arts, in memory of sculptor Adam Reynolds.
Sally was selected from an enormously strong field of 32 applicants. A visually impaired painter, her work uses colour and transparencies, merging painting, photos, illustrations and line drawings to represent her unique gaze, her way of seeing the world. She is fascinated by colour, constantly developing her work and finding ways to “express the celebratory in the everyday”.
